Alchemy by Anna Ward – Transformation of self or situation will often require an element of metaphorical fire as a change agent. This artwork Alchemy speaks of the internal fire, that is needed to activate and ignite new passions and ways of being. It references the alchemic process of starting with cheap metal and turning it into gold. Throughout my career I have come to understand that if we work with and accept our most flawed/vulnerable aspects of ourselves, our ‘cheap metal’ can offer the greatest ‘gold’ in terms of self actualisation and internal equilibrium.

Alchemy is an oversized acrylic painting, created on a custom made oval board. It’s predominantly gold, yellow, orange, pinks and reds. It has a delicious, horizontal gold and fluorescent orange lines juxtaposed against a swirling organic oval shape.
